Step
back in time and take an unforgettable journey by steam
train through Tuscany's Val d'Orcia.
Treno Natura In 1994 the Siena -Asciano -Monte Antico
railway line was, like many of Italy's non-profitable
stretches of track, to be closed down. Fortunately however
someone recognised the enormous tourist potential and
the line stayed open.
Nowadays the Treno Natura ferries carriage-loads of
wonder-struck tourists through one of the most breathtaking
tracts of the Tuscan countryside. It is living proof
of how these disused railways that wind their way through
some of the most beautiful parts of Italy can reinvent
themselves and breathe new life into the landscape they
cross.
Prepare yourselves for an unforgettable journey back
in time through the spectacular surrounds of central
Tuscany.
Your trip will take you past Montalcino, home of the
world-famous wine Brunello di Montalcino, through the
changing colours of the crete - Siena's rolling clay
hills - until you reach your destination at Monte Amiata.
